When is the best time for a maternity session?

Maternity sessions are best done when the tummy is nice and round. This can be anywhere from 27-35 weeks; However sessions can be held safely up until 38 weeks.

Do you provide hair and make up?

We do not provide hair and make up. However, we can give you recommendations where to go. Hair and makeup are recommended but not required.

Do you provide wardrobe?

We do provide maternity gowns and carry an assortment of wraps and essentials for your session. Matching gowns, and other specialty items are also available for little girls. Upon booking a session all factors are discussed, such as style of session, clothing, personal requests and desired outcome.

Can Partners and children be in the session?

Yes of course! We always encourage family in your maternity session.

Do you offer Maternity and Newborn packages?

Yes we do! Maternity and Newborn packages are available, as well as our popular Baby Plan Package.

When should my newborn be photographed?

Our favorite time to capture newborn images is sometime between 4 and 14 days of age. Most babies are quite sleepy and still very flexible from being in the womb, which means we can capture those nice curly, snuggly poses. If you’re unable to schedule a session within that time frame, don’t worry! We offer other collections for babies that are over the 14 days mark. We follow each baby’s individual cues including flexibility, positioning, and comfort to ensure your little one’s safety throughout the session.

How far in advance should I schedule my appointment?

We recommend contacting us to schedule a photo session around the beginning of the third trimester (28 weeks), but please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time. We’ll put your due-date in our calendar and we can schedule a tentative appointment. Since each baby arrives on his or her own timeline, we ask that you let me know when your baby is born so we can change your appointment if we need to. We have a limit to the number of sessions we schedule per month so we can remain flexible and provide the best experience we possibly can for each client.

Can the family be included during the session?

Of course! While your newborn is the main focus of the session, We enjoy capturing the love and emotion between siblings, parents, and babies. If you’re bringing any older siblings with you, We’ll likely take family and sibling photos first (as long as baby is cooperating!) since newborn sessions are quite long and a child’s attention span and patience may not last through the entire session. We want to make sure to capture everyone while they’re at their best!

Where do sessions take place?

We have dedicated a room in our Dolce studio specifically designed with newborn photography in mind. There’s a comfortable seating area where you’re still able to see and hear everything that’s happening during the session.

How long is the newborn session?

Every session is different just as every baby is different. Some newborns will sleep through the whole photoshoot and others…not so much. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to help comfort your little one in case he/she is a bit fussy. I also allow plenty of time during the session for feeding and changing. Your photoshoot should be a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Feel free to bring a book, catch up on emails and social media, take a nap, or simply sit back and enjoy the session!

Do we need to bring anything to the Newborn session?

There’s very little you’ll need to bring with you, except your sweet newborn! I have a variety of props, along with an ever-growing collection of hats, headbands, and different blankets and swaddles. I suggest that you dress in light clothing or layers as the studio is quite warm for baby’s comfort. You’ll have plenty of time during the session to change into a different outfit if you’d like! We’ll talk about all of these details during your consultation.

When should we book for a First Birthday / Cake smash session?

Typically, a Cake Smash session is designed for babies who are around a year old. It’s meant to be a way to celebrate your child hitting a major milestone. Most parents choose to book this session just before their child’s birthday, to have their photos ready for their birthday celebration. We recommend booking in for a session at least 1-2 months before your child’s first birthday. This enables ample time to get your images and print products back to you before their special day. Sets are custom made and elements may need to be ordered that require longer shipping times. The earlier you can reach out to us, the better!

Can family be included in the session?

The first birthday Collections does not include Family Portraits We do have a sibling additional fee if you want to include a sibling for a few shots. However, the Cake Smash itself is for your child only.

Is the cake included?

We do not provide the cake in our collections for allergy reasons. However, we will help you find the perfect location for where to purchase the cake.

Do you provide the outfits?

Yes we do! We offer timeless wardrobe for babies. If you choose a thematic set we won’t provide the outfits. We will let you know in the consultation what themes we do have available.

How long is the session?

The session usually last 45 minutes to an hour. Babies attention span is short so we make sure that we capture everything we need during this time frame.
